What's on Offer
The University offers a range of courses in disciplines from HND to PhD level. Subject areas include Architecture, Construction, Property and Housing, Art and Design, Business and Management, Computing and IT, Education/Teacher Training, English, Engineering, Law, Social Sciences, Music and Health and Social Care. Courses are taught by friendly staff in modern, well-equipped surroundings. There are seven faculties, working across eight teaching sites, all within 15 minutes of the city centre.
Courses relate theoretical study to real life. Strong links with industry, commerce and the professions ensures courses remain professionally relevant and reflect ever-changing practice. Many courses include a work placement and it's not surprising, therefore, that graduates are highly employable and many gain their first job through contacts made during their course.
Birmingham City University's careers service and job shop provide advice to students and graduates. Other services include disability services, financial advice, childcare, counselling and healthcare. The Birmingham City University Students’ Union also operates a free, confidential and impartial advice service. The multi-faith chaplaincy has three full-time chaplains and there are various faith societies within the Union. A personal assistance scheme for disabled students is also available.
