The City College is an independent institution of further and higher education catering for local and international students. Established in 1979, the City College was one of the first colleges to have been accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC), in 1985. Over the years thousands of students have successfully completed their studies at the City College and have progressed to higher studies in British and American universities, or secured successful careers in a variety of fields. As well as maintaining high academic standards and providing quality tuition, the City College is noted for its prompt response to the education and training developments in the global environment.
Studying at the City College has evolved into a truly enlightening experience, and it is no surprise that our student body primarily consists of those who joined us on the recommendations from past or present students.
What's on offerThe primary focus of study is on Business/Management and information technology at diploma and degree level. Diploma courses in travel and tourism and hospitality management are also offered, which may then be converted into a degree by further study. Some courses are also available by distance learning, enabling students to complete their studies from the comfort of their home. The College reviews its course portfolio on a regular basis to ensure that it meets current trends and the requirements of its students. The latest additions are the degree courses in Business Management and Computing from the University of Sunderland.
The City College is a corporate member of the UK Institute of Travel and Tourism and has a very lively Hospitality and Tourism Department. Students can earn IATA points within the tourism course, subject to passing the relevant examinations. The hospitality course is of exceptional value as it incorporates training on the FIDELIO computer reservation system, which is used by major hotels around the world. Students who wish to improve their English language skills can join the English as a Foreign Language classes, to reach an acceptable standard for entry into various other courses offered by the College.
