In its most recent inspection, a high percentage of City Lit’s courses were rated either good or outstanding – some of the best results in the country. All courses in visual and performing arts were rated ‘outstanding’. City Lit was awarded ‘Beacon college’ status by the Department for Education and Skills for the standard of its provision, and it also holds the Charter Mark for excellence in public service. Most recently it became the first adult education college ever to be awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its ground-breaking work with adults who stammer.
Subjects include the following: Art, Languages, Music, Drama, Humanities, Psychology and Counselling, Computing, Speech Therapy, Sign Language, Health and Movement and Teacher Training.

Support for part-time students is available. The Information and Advice Team can help you choose the right course at the right level, and can also help with financial and childcare support. There is also a counselling service, disability support, dyslexia support and study skills support.
