Royal Holloway is ranked among the UK’s top university institutions for both teaching and research. Since Queen Victoria presided over the grand opening ceremony in the year 1886, the College has continued to grow in size and status. The College now has a student population of over 8,000 with students from over 100 countries. At Royal Holloway, we offer a range of courses across the Sciences, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In the results of the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2001) all of Royal Holloway's departments were given the top three ratings of 4, 5 and 5*, putting us in an elite group of only nine other universities achieving the same. The splendour of the Founder's Building greets you as you enter the campus. Elsewhere there are academic buildings, halls of residence, the Students' Union, sports centre, playing fields and the Windsor Building - a multi-million pound investment, housing a state-of-the-art lecture theatre complex. Beyond the buildings there are acres of woodland and open space.
